Brenda Novak's 2008 on-line auction to benefit diabetes research
Brenda Novak's annual on-line auction to benefit diabetes research goes live tomorrow. There are a ton of amazing things to bid on for readers, for writers, for everyone. Check it out at http://brendanovak.auctionanything.com/.
According to her auction site, "The first $150,000 in auction proceeds will go the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the balance will go to the Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami." She's aiming for the $300,000 goal this year, and I'd love to see her reach it. Go, Brenda!

Romantic Times
I just got back from Pittsburgh. I couldn't attend the entire Romantic Times convention that's been going on this week, but I did zip down for a quick visit. Thanks to Sally Mackenzie and Kristina Cook for taking me under their wings and making certain that I wasn't completely lost and wandering in circles. This was my first time at any part of the RT convention and all I can say is, Wow! I hope to be able to attend the entire conference next year, but that's a story for another day.
Though I was only in Pittsburgh for a short time, I had a blast, caught up with old friends and met new ones, and got a taste of what RT is all about: a place where people who love the romance genre can hang out and have fun. I arrived Thursday evening and crammed in as many hugs and hellos as I could, went to two parties including the fabulous Fairy Ball, then scarfed down really yummy cheesecake with Michelle Buonfiglio from Romance: B(u)y The Book and author Ann Christopher (who won an RT Reviewers Choice Award...yay!).
Friday was the Romantic Times Reviewers Choice awards lunch. RT honored me (Eve Silver) and the other me (Eve Kenin) with Reviewers Choice Awards for Best Historical Gothic for DARK PRINCE and Best Futuristic Romance for DRIVEN. I'm incredibly thrilled and honored but I had no idea that I'd be making a speech, so I had to wing it. That part was scary, and in my first speech, I neglected to mention my beloved agent, but I made up for my oversight in the second speech, LOL! Thanks to my pal Michelle Rowen who provided video coverage. Check out her blog for cool videos.
Shout outs to Marjorie M. Liu and Lori Foster. I packed way too much fun into a very short visit :)

Nature of the Beast

So, I shared the cover of my July Eve Kenin release, Hidden,, and the cover of my August Eve Silver release, His Wicked Sins. Now, I'm posting the cover of Nature of the Beast (gotta love this cover, but the truth is, my scan doesn't do it justice!). My historical gothic novella, Kiss of the Vampire, will be part of this trade paperback vampire collection, along with stories by Hannah Howell and Adrienne Basso.
Kiss of the Vampire, coming September 2008 in the trade paperback collection, NATURE OF THE BEAST
Devoted to her work at King's College Hospital, Sarah Lowell is shocked to discover that someone—or something—is killing the weakest patients, draining them of their blood. Killian Thayne, an enigmatic surgeon, offers Sarah his protection, but his sensual, commanding presence presents another kind of danger, urging her to risk everything for the splendor of his eternal embrace...

Back cover copy of HIDDEN
Here's the back cover copy of HIDDEN (Allison, this post's for you :-) ).
"Edgy, steamy, action packed, and plotted with nail-biting tension."—Library Journal(Starred Review) on Driven
Tatiana has honed her genetic gifts to perfection. She can withstand the subzero temperatures of the Northern Waste, read somebody's mind with the briefest touch, and slice through bone with her bare hands. Which makes her one badass chick, all right. Nothing gets to her. Until she meets Tristan. Villain or ally, she can't be sure. But one thing she does know: he has gifts too-including the ability to ramp up her heart rate to dangerous levels. But before they can start some chemistry of their own, they have to survive being trapped in an underground lab, hunted by a madman, and exposed to a plague that could destroy mankind.
"Anyone looking for something different will find Kenin's steamy, sinewy universe great fun." -Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)
"Eve Kenin expertly fuses nonstop action and adventure; a cutting-edge, exceptionally inventive setting; and a terrific, take-charge, no-nonsense heroine in Driven, a fresh, fabulously fun futuristic romance." -John Charles, The Chicago Tribune
